Ira Kay Ward

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ira Kay Ward, 60, on Monday, February 1, 2021.  Kay was born January 31, 1961 in Burkesville, Kentucky, the daughter of James and Raye Brown.  She was long time resident of Muncie and a graduate of Muncie Central High School and Ivy Tech. 

Kay loved working with the Spirit of Sound Marching Band, drag racing Mustangs, and spoiling her much loved grandchildren.  She was employed with Hillcroft Services and had a deep passion for helping others.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Rodney Ward, Muncie; daughter, Holly Ward, Muncie; son, Nicholas Ward, (wife Regina), Muncie; grandson, Jameson Roach; granddaughters, Alivia Ong and Sawyer Ward; sister, Diana Faye Roach, (husband Kevin), Muncie; brothers, Steve Brown, (wife Ginger), Muncie; David Brown, (wife Vickie), Ludlow Falls, Ohio; James Douglas Brown, (wife Aneeda), Redkey; and Rick Brown, (wife Dana), Portland; aunt, Joyce Kerr, Burkesville, Kentucky; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Raye Evelyn Paxson; and a grandson, August Ward.

Kay was loved very much and cared for by all who knew her.  She will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the donor’s personal charity in honor of Kay’s love for helping others.  Parson Mortuary and Cremation Center is entrusted with the arrangements.
