James Larry Clupper, 78, passed away Sunday morning, December 13, 2020 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born on January 22, 1943 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the son of James Lester and Arindena (Johnson) Clupper.
He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1961 and served in the U.S. Airforce during the Vietnam War Era being stationed at Lowry Airforce Base, Denver, Colorado and was honorably discharged in 1970. James married Linda (Crehan) Clupper on Dec. 19, 1997.
He worked in supervision, management and administration at Ball Corporation (i.e., Alltrista, Jarden) for 26 years prior to his retirement from there in 2002. He went on to complete a period of employment in the maintenance department of Chevrolet Muncie for two years.
Besides his wife of 23 years, Linda, he is survived by three sons, Daniel C. (Courtney) Clupper, Florida, Adam Clupper, Avon, and Martin (Tina) Clanin, Yorktown; two daughters, Lari Whitsel, Muncie and Beth (Doug) Erickson, Killeen, Texas; brother, Charles “Chuck” (Carol) Clupper, Reno, Nevada; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law, Dean Whitesel in 2018.
The family has chosen cremation, with a memorial service to honor his life being held at Towne Acres Church of Christ, 2411 E. Riggin Road, Muncie, IN at 6 pm on Friday, January 22, 2021. To express condolences to the family, visitation will be held at the church from 4 pm until the time of the service. Military honors will be rendered by the Delaware County Honor Guard.
