James Gillentine Obituary

James Donald Gillentine, 82, passed away Friday afternoon, March 17, 2023, at his residence following an extended illness.  He was born in Tennessee on February 25, 1941.  He was the son of James and Maurine (McDonald) Gillentine.

Don graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1959 and later married Barbara (Rosinski) Gillentine.  He worked in the Production Department working with Prototypes at General Motors for 40 years prior to retirement.  He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union.  He loved to be outdoors, especially fishing.  He was a member of the Bass Club in which he was awarded the title Mr. Bass in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.

Survivors include Special Companion, Cindy Spears; one son, Donald Gillentine; one daughter, Lisa Johnson; two grandsons, Matthew Johnson, and Cameron Gillentine; one great-grandson, Avery Johnson; three brothers, Jimmy Gillentine (Judy), David Gillentine and Larry Gillentine; two sisters, Sharon Clark, and Sandy Smallwood.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Mike Winner officiating.  Friends may call from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
