James Parker Johnson, 73, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away on July 12, 2025, at Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
James was born on April 2, 1952, in Muncie, Indiana, to Joseph and Inez (Strahan) Johnson. A lifelong resident of Muncie, he graduated from St. Lawrence Catholic School and Southside High School. He went on to dedicate 39 years of service to Apria Healthcare, where he was known not only for his professionalism but for the deep compassion he showed to every patient he served, it was never just a job to him.
James was a proud Eagle Scout, a devoted reader of the Bible, and a faithful member of Glad Tidings Church in Hartford City, where he attended and served as an usher and any other compacity needed for many years. He found joy in woodworking, especially wood burning, and was a passionate golfer. He also had a well-known talent for making fudge that family and friends cherished.
Above all, James was a deeply loving and Godly man who cherished his family. He was an involved and caring husband, father, and grandfather. His kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
James is survived by his children: James Johnson Jr. (Melanie) and Jama Munson (Matthew); his adopted daughter, Ann King (Kevin); brother Ed Johnson (Carolyn), five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Jennifer Johnson, the love of his life; his parents, Joseph and Inez (Strahan) Johnson; his sister, Ann Johnson; and his brother, Chris Johnson.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at Glad Tidings Church on 3001 S Burlington Drive Muncie IN 47302. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. until the time of service.
