James Richard Kanney

James R. Kanney, 91, of Muncie, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away December 19, 2019. He was born February 11, 1928 in LaPorte, Indiana to the late Raymond and Agnes (Pulham) Kanney.  He attended LaPorte schools, later receiving his Bachelors from DePauw University. James had served in the Army during the Korean War, but was fonder of his time spent with his family. He enjoyed listening to opera and classical music, as well as ball games.

James is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lucille; Daughters, Jody (Marc) Gibbs, Nancy (David) Carlin, and Mary Meadows; Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, father and sisters.

At this time, the family has chosen cremation for James. There will be a burial of ashes to follow at a later date. You may honor James' memory by donating to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675, or to ARF of Muncie, 1209 W Riggin Rd, Muncie, IN 47303.
