James A. York, 59, of Muncie, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 6th, following an extended illness.
James’ greatest loves in life were his family and music. He could often be found sitting by a campfire, guitar in hand, entertaining his wife and children by playing Beatles tunes. James was a 1984 graduate of Muncie Southside High School and a lifelong ‘Southside Rebel’. He went on to study at Indiana Wesleyan, completing his degree in 1994. He spent many years working in the banking industry in Muncie.
While teaching at Indiana Business College, James met his wife of 25 years, Sandy. James and Sandy blended their families, and together they raised 4 wonderful children; Tara Dodson/Muncie, Michael Kline (Rachel)/Muncie, Audrey Wilcoxson (Caleb)/Michigan, Johnny Prince/Muncie. Grandchildren; Gracelynn, Ayrianna, Mallory, Carson, and Cooper. Brothers; Danny York (Amy)/Muncie and David York (Jenn)/Muncie. Brother-in-law; Eric Carr (Barb)/Kentucky. Nephews and nieces; Wyatt York, Mason York, Jackson Brunty, Max Fults, Emma Carr, and Ellie Carr.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Jewel York, and his son-in-law, Timothy Dodson.
No services will be held. Parson Mortuary is entrusted with cremation. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
