James “John” Edgar Lindsey, 79, left this life early Thursday morning, August 15, 2024, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Muncie on September 16, 1944 the son of Harlan and Mary Lindsey.
James was a 1962 graduate of Parker City High School and later enlisted in the United States Army where he honorably served until his discharge in 1968. Mr. Lindsey found employment at the Colonial Bread Bakery where he worked on the line for several years prior to their closing in. He enjoyed playing the lottery and bowling with his wife. Mostly, he was known to be a professional “Tinkerer”!
James had married the love of his life Mary (Costin) Lindsey in Muncie and she preceded him in death in 2008.
Survivors include one daughter, Victoria Hensley (Tom), Muncie; two granddaughters, Allison “Allie” Truett and Peyton Hensley, both of Muncie; one great granddaughter, Alyvia Brumback, at home in Muncie; one sister, Joyce Main, Parker City; one niece and two nephews.
Besides his wife Mary, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dick Lindsey; one sister, Peggy Hopper; and an infant sibling.
Cremation is being done; Parson Mortuary Cremation Center is entrusted with these arrangements. Burial of cremated remains will take place at Tomlinson Cemetery at a later date.
