Jeffrey W. Johnson, 61, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away on August 3, 2024, at IU Ball Memorial Hospital.  Jeff was born on June 16, 1963, at Mercy Hospital in Elwood, Indiana, the son of Cordi and James Johnson. 

After graduating high school Jeff enlisted in the United States Army, becoming a Sergeant of Engineering.  During his service he received recognition from the Army for nearly everything he had accomplished.  After leaving the Army, Jeff returned to his hometown to work at Elsa Corporation for the next 38 years where he was known for his outstanding work performance.

In 1980, Jeff married his grade school sweetheart, Janis Dockery.  In 1982 he became a father for the first time with the birth of his daughter Janet Johnson “Taylor” and in 1984 welcomed his second daughter, Bridget Johnson Cole.  Jeff was a loving father who showed his love in his own way. He would give his daughters “extra special” surprises as they were growing up and was known for making up a song for almost every routine.

Jeff’s hobbies included anything outdoors, camping, fishing and grilling out, but his love for sports was his number one activity.  He had a love for fantastic music of all different genres, but his favorite was John Prine.  Jeff loved to cook on the holidays and was known for his dressing he made from scratch and always preparing at least 40 deviled eggs.

Jeff is survived by and will forever be in the hearts of his surviving family, including his two daughters, Janet and Bridget, five grandchildren, Ethan, Molly, Haley, Presten, and Carter Jo, as well as his four sisters, Jennifer, Sam, Angie, and Ella Marie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cordi Ann Martin and James John, and his two older brothers, James “Buzz” Johnson, and John Johnson.

Jeff will forever be remembered for his selfless acts of kindness to others in need and his pride in loving and wanting the best for his family.  Jeffrey truly had the biggest heart and the way his showed it was always so humble.  His life will always be honored and celebrated.
