Joan is survived by her 5 daughters, Sherry (Paul) Laughman, Troy, Ohio, Denise (Nelson) Pires, Goiania Goias Brazil, Deborah (David) Ellenwood, Hudson, Michigan, Carol (John) Pierce, Sanford, Florida and Darcy (Mark) Dill, Muncie, Indiana, 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 sisters-in-law Judy Field and Carolyn Bone, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 sister, Dorothy Kemp and 2 brothers, James and Donald Field.

Joan and her husband were called to the mission field in 1959 and served with the Mission Aviation Fellowship as an airplane Mechanic and Pilot in Anapolis, Goias, Buriti, Mato Grosso, and Floriano Piaui, Brazil, South America until 1974.

Upon returning from South America in 1974, Joan worked several jobs until she was hired by the State of Michigan to serve as an Executive Secretary to the Warden in the prison system for many years until her retirement.

Joan enjoyed music immensely.  She played the trumpet in her high school band, learned to play the piano, taught herself to play the marimba, the accordion, the guitar, and almost any instrument.  She also taught her daughters to harmonize and sang with them as often as possible.  She also taught her daughters to sew, and enjoyed many crafts.  She had a passion for crossword puzzles and loved to play table games with her family.
