John D. Bowers, 92, passed away on July 31, 2024 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.  John was born in a country home in Delaware county on April 30, 1932, the last of seven children born to Donald and Shirley (Lindsey) Bowers, whom preceded him in death.  He was the husband of the late Barbara “Peggy” (Lewis) Bowers to whom he was married for 70 years. He is survived by one daughter, Karla R. Bowers.

John graduated from Farmland High School, where he played four years of high school basketball.  John enjoyed watching college basketball and football.  John was a big fan of the Indianapolis Colts.

John retired from Delco batter after thirty-four and a half years and also farmed in the Selma area.  He said several times he had the best neighbors on 800 East that you could ever wanted, thanks to all of you!

John and Peggy attended Full Gospel Temple in Muncie.  They wintered in Florida for 25 years where they attended Harvest Assembly Church.

The family would like to say thank you to Brad and Tammy Reece, and Greg and Dorothy Holmberg for their help and friendship.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and siblings, Robert, Donald Jr., Eugene, Leona, Betty, and Dorthea.  He is survived by several nephews, sisters-in-law, cousins, and many friends and neighbors that loved him.

Services will be at Full Gospel Temple, 212 W. 7th Street, Muncie, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 1:00 PM.  Friends may call on the family from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Windsor, Indiana.  Pastor John Helton will officiate.
