John Foster Horner, 76, passed away on June 30th, 2024 at his home in Selma, Indiana surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on January 16th, 1948 to Kenneth and Lois (Deaton) Horner in Winchester, Indiana.
John graduated from Union High School in 1966 and later enlisted in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam war.
John worked for Ball Corporation for over twenty years and later worked at the Academy of Model Aeronautics from 1999 until he retired in 2017.
John was a member of the American Legion for over 50 years, as well as a former Big Brother. He was a passionate fan of IU Basketball and the Indianapolis Colts. He enjoyed watching westerns, bowling, and playing softball, but what brought him the most joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife Carol, sons JR Horner (Alisha) and Dylan Horner, grandchildren Beckham and Ella Horner, sister Jackie Nelson (Van), sister-in-law Sandy Pederson (Russ), and brother-in-law Rob Peacock. John also leaves behind his beloved dog, Hunter.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams, Muncie. Friends and family may call on the family from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery with military honors. Rev. Mona Dale will officiate.
