Julia Ann (Parson) Phelps-Maloy Obituary

Julia Ann Phelps Maloy, 85 passed away on January 13th from complications associated with Lewie Body Dementia. Julie, as she was known by friends and family, was a graduate of Burris High School in Muncie, IN, a graduate of Indiana University School of Nursing, and she received her master’s in Psych Mental Health from the University of South Florida. 


Julie was a dedicated healthcare professional whose career spanned 55 years and included work in the fields of surgery, dialysis,  ER, and a pioneer in Wound Ostomy and Continence care. 


She was a published author, and educator and she served on the Board of Directors of the SE Region of the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence, Nursing Society. 


She also donated her time as a healing touch practitioner to patients in Angola,  Indiana. 


Julie was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Doris Parson, Husband John Maloy, and son Thomas Phelps. She is survived by her brother Ken Parson, daughter Kathy Khandaker, son Greg Phelps, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

 

A celebration of life will be held in the Wigwam Room in The Potawatomi Inn at Pokagon State Park on Sunday, January 21st. The family asks that guests arrive at 2:00 PM. Celebration of Life follows at 3:00 PM.
