Kathryn "Kate" Marie (Maynard) Wean

Kathryn “Kate” Marie Wean, age 100, of Muncie, Passed away at her residence , Monday morning, September 19th, 2022 following a brief illness.  She was born October 10th,1921 in Noblesville, In. and was the daughter of the late Rev. K. Edward and Anna (Jones) Maynard.

She graduated from Daleville Schools and had worked in Childrens Clothing  for J.C.Penney’s for many years retiring in 1990.

She was a member of  Garden at Gethsemane in Muncie, past member of the Halycon Club and had been a volunteer with the Salvation Army and many other projects. She loved visiting weekly to several area nursing homes.

Kate is survived by several nieces and nephews including , John ((wife-Andrea) Maynard, Ken Lahey, Richard Schear, Jim (wife-Debbie) Maynard; Nieces, Diane (husband-David) Lindsell, Tacha (husband- Wayne) Barker, Sally (husband- Lee) Fleck, Jennifer Boseker, Debi (husband-David) Rohrdan-Gibson, Melissa (husband-Jeff) Messersmith , Allison (husband-Mike) Robbins, Adrienne (husband-Tony) Rohrdan-Catron and Stephanie Beebe; a special cousin Patty Playford also survive.

In addition to her parents Kathryn was preceded in death by  a brother, Ken Maynard Jr.; a sister, Melva Lahey;

Memorial Contributions may be made to  Garden at Gethsemane Church for the building fund in her memory.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Monday, September 26th,2022 at the Gethsemane United Methodist Church located 1201 W. McGalliard Ave. Muncie.  Rev. Kate Muhlbaier will be officiating with Pastor Tony Collins. Friends may call at the church 1 Hour prior to service.
