Kelly Hiatt Obituary

Kelly Lynn Hiatt, born December 26, 1975, passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 31, 2023. He is now in the sweet presence of his Savior Jesus Christ.

Kelly graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1994, where he played football his freshman year and was a member of the swim team all four years. His senior year, he was the recipient of the swim team’s mental attitude award—an honor he shared with his twin brother, Kerry. Kelly was also a 1998 graduate of Ball State University where he earned a degree in fine arts and general studies. For several years after college, Kelly was self-employed as a graphic artist and printer. He then transitioned to a career as a graphic artist with Menasha (formerly Color Box owned by Georgia Pacific) in Richmond,Indiana.

Blessed with many talents and skills, Kelly’s life was marked by compassion, generosity, and a deep love for and devotion to his three children. He was also highly creative, industrious, and skilled with his hands. In elementary school, he and his brother started K& K lawn service, work they continued through their college years. He restored a 1962 Ford Fairlane which he drove to his Senior Prom and his wedding. As a young adult, he planned and built an addition to his home which doubled its square footage and participated in numerous other construction projects such as roofing his parents’ barn. Hobbies included reading (history in particular) and block lithography art. During his childhood years, Kelly and his family enjoyed Pop Warner football, his sister Kami’s gymnastics competitions, camping and boating, and various church activities. Kelly placed his faith in Christ at age twelve and, as an adult, served for a time as part of the East Central Indiana Emmaus Community. He was a member of Bethel Church and served as a trustee for a period of time.

Kelly is survived by his three children, Kade, Kye, and Klaire; a grandson, Ezekiel; his parents, Kevin and Karen; and his sister, Kami, brother Kerry, and beloved nieces and nephews. All will remember his sacrificial love, his kind and gentle spirit, his sense of humor, and the many ways he blessed others.
