L. C. Garrett, 90, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, after an extended illness. L.C. was born on January 13, 1935, in Cartwright, KY, to Joe D. and Nola Ethel Garrett, where he lived until, at age 16, his family moved to Muncie, IN, where he stayed until his passing. L.C. was a GM retiree after having worked for area GM Plants beginning at the Muncie plant in 1969 and retired from the Ft. Wayne Assembly Plant in 1997.

L.C. married Frances Tuck on March 5, 1955, and recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Together they raised a family whom he loved and was extremely proud of. He was known as “L”, “L.C.”, “Doc”, and “Clarence”, but his favorites were Dad, Daddy, Grandpa, Pa, and Big Pa. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Frances, three children, son William (Bill) and wife Jenny, daughter Tammy and husband Robin Sheppard, of Muncie, and son Brian, wife Denae of Elwood, IN. He is also survived by four grandsons, Pete Brooks (Jennifer) of Easley, SC, Jeremiah Brooks
(Rebecca) of Ketchikan, AK, Nicholas Brooks (Geisha) and Christopher Sheppard (Julie), both of Muncie, as well as two granddaughters, Alexandra Davis (Aaron) of San Antonio, TX, and Arial Ring (Travis) of Muncie, who preceded him in death. In addition, 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews, survive.

Along with his granddaughter, he is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother. Services to honor Mr. Garrett will be at Parsons Mortuary in Muncie, IN, on Monday, June 30, 2025. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 6 pm, with funeral services at 6 pm.
