LD Murphy, 68, passed away at his Muncie, Indiana home on April 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.  LD was born on August 24, 1956, to Luster Dean and Lora Mae (Miller) Murphy, in Whitley City, Kentucky.

Following high school LD went to become a cement truck driver, most recently for Beaver Material in Noblesville, Indiana.  He enjoyed fishing, and riding his zero-turn lawn mower, even in later stages of his battle with cancer.  LD’s greatest joy came from his family, especially his wife, children and grandchildren.  He would often spend time in a swing under the tree in his yard, watching his grandchildren play.

LD is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Ruth Ann Murphy, a son, Dusty Allen Murphy, daughter in-law, Mikala Rich, grandchildren, Dusty Elizabeth, Dalton and Eerilyn.  In addition, he leaves behind siblings Mary Burchfield (Carl), Wanda Worley (Danny), Lary Murphy (Kim), Brenda Taylor (Daniel), Paula Crowley, and bonus brother, Hugh Dickison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Eric Murphy, and siblings, James, Charles, Joe and Bonnie.

Funeral services will be on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Parson Mortuary 801 W. Adams Street, Muncie, at 1:00 PM.  Friends may call on the family from 12:00 PM until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery in Muncie.
