Larry J Sochor passed away from an extended illness at Elmcroft Assisted Living early Saturday November 6, 2021. He was born February 5, 1949 in Monaca, PA, the son of Ben and Dorothy Sochor (deceased.) Larry graduated from the University of Akron (Ohio) in June of 1971, was commissioned into the US Air Force as a second Lieutenant and soon joined the auditing staff at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX. After leaving the Air Force, Larry’s career in industrial accounting took him to PA, DE, OH, Columbus IN and finally arriving in Muncie IN in the fall of 1981 with Indiana Steel and Wire. Larry continued his studies earning an MBA in Finance from Ball State University and shortly thereafter he accepted a position with Ball Corp., Muncie.
Larry and his wife, Sonya, would have celebrated their 50Th wedding anniversary on the 20th of this month as they were married November 20, 1971 in Warren, OH. Larry and Sonya enjoyed traveling, new adventures, and summers on Lake Erie at their cottage in Haywood Beach, Ashtabula, OH. However, Muncie has always been home to them. Larry was somewhat reserved, but enjoyed good times and conversations with friends, family and acquaintances. He particularly loved the Saturday night dinners with good friends on the back porch of the cottage in the summers.
Larry is survived by his wife, Sonya; his sister, Terri S. Cheng and her husband John (Pittsburgh, PA) as well as several cousins, aunts and uncles, and many good friends.
Services will be at 3 p.m., Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Parson Mortuary, Inc., 801 W Adams Street, Muncie, IN. Friends may call from 1 to 3 on Thursday, at Parson Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, per Larry’s wishes, donations may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank, Muncie Animal Shelter and ARF.
