Laura L. Curtis, 60, went to her heavenly home on Sunday evening, August 11, 2024, at the Bethel Point Health and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.  She was born on March 16, 1964 in Muncie the daughter of Dennis Cavanaugh and Ferrell (Blunk) Cavanaugh-Houk.

Laura graduated from Southside High School in 1982 and later graduated from Indiana Business School.  Laura married the love of her life, Dennis Curtis in 1983 at Eaton, IN and he survives.  Mrs. Curtis had worked for Target Dept. Store and more recently, she had served the Delaware County Clerk office as a Clerk/typist for 18 years prior to her disability.    She enjoyed history, sewing, crochet work and embroidery.  To say she was an avid reader would be an understatement!   Mrs. Curtis was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at one time, Murpah Shrine auxiliary, and the 49th Indiana Volunteers Co. F, Civil War reenactment group in which she and her family participated in on a regular basis.  Mostly, Laura loved being Mamaw, and spending time with her granddaughters and her family!

Besides her husband of 41 years, Dennis, she is also survived by two sons, Patrick Curtis (Kristina) and Dennis Curtis II, both of Gaston; two granddaughters, Grace and Isabella Curtis at home, Gaston; several nieces and nephews and a whole host of close friends that will miss her very much!

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; two sisters and several step siblings.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 1:00 P.M. at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating.   Burial will follow at Thompson Cemetery in Gaston, Indiana.

Friends may call at Parson Mortuary on Tuesday August 20, 2024 from 11:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
