Lee Walter Thompson, 61, passed away on April 10, 2025 in Muncie, Indiana.  Lee was born the son of Walter and Frances (Heady) Thompson on October 20, 1963 in Muncie. 

Lee was a graduate of Northside High School in Muncie.  Lee specialized in upholstery, working beside his father at GW Kay Company for many years before taking ownership in 2008. He was well known for his high quality work and specialized in car interiors.  Several classic car owners trusted him to install the interiors of their cars.

In his spare time Lee enjoyed hunting, especially for deer, going to concerts, shopping for antiques, and spending time with his family and friends.  He was described as fun to be around and having a huge heart. He loved spending time with his friends at La Hacienda. 

His biggest joy came from his grandchildren.  He loved spending time with them, and had a special connection with each.  They were his pride and joy and he was basically a kid at heart, especially around them.

Lee left behind his daughter, Kaitlyn Thompson (Josh), parents, Walter and Frances Thompson, sister, Toni Reynolds (Mike), partner, Mary Nixon, and “bonus daughter” April Apking (Dan).  In addition, he is survived by his grandchildren, Noah Thompson, Christina, Eliza, Alivia, and Emma Suchovsky, Chance Nixon, and Lincoln Apking, niece, Meagen Reynolds (Andrew), and nephew, Alec Reynolds (Allison), great niece, Parker Reynolds and great nephew, Simon McVicker.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Greg Thompson, step-brother, Rich Barnes, and two uncles, Bob Heady, and Bob Thompson.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at The Landing at Redwing, 5757 E. Inlow Springs Road Muncie, IN 47302.
