Frederick Leslie “Les” Brand, 64, passed away on January 16, 2025, in Muncie, Indiana. Les was born on November 28, 1960, the son of William Frederick and Martha Lou (Oxley) Brand, in Muncie.

Les graduated from Muncie Southside High School. After high school, he went on to help his father with the family business and eventually became the owner and operator of Brand Roofing and Painting, a family-owned and operated business since 1902. Les was a proud business owner and an extremely hard worker. We will all miss smell of the tar kettle heating up and the clanking of his boots across the kitchen floor. 

Les had a remarkable ability to connect with people and never met a stranger, always “meeting future friends” wherever he went. A quick trip to the store with his wife often turned into a solo shopping adventure for her, as Les stopped to chat with everyone he encountered. His warm, friendly nature made him unforgettable to all who knew him. Above all, Les’s greatest joy came from his family. He adored his grandsons and loved being playful and silly with them, sparking their laughter and creating memories they will hold close to their hearts forever.

A lover of animals, Les had a special bond with his dogs, Skylee, Decker, and Sammie, who had passed on. He was known for his early morning routine of taking his dogs to McDonald’s for cheeseburgers, breakfast burritos, and coffee, a testament to his big heart and playful spirit.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dena; daughters, Brittany Adams (William), Chere Bautista (Mauro), and Dawn Morgan (Jared); sons, Robert Wiley (Cheryl) and Brandon Donaldson (Mary); sisters, Mary Smith, Theresa Keihn (Howard), Martha “Marti” Brand (Jana Hanson), and Claudette Brand-York (David); twelve grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

Les was preceded in death by his son, Adam Brand; his parents, William and Martha Lou Brand; and his in-laws, Harold and Karen Malloch.

Services will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams, Muncie, Indiana. Friends may call on the family from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM.
