Louis Jennings Privett Obituary

Louis Jennings Privett, 86, left this life early Wednesday morning, July 17, 2024, at his residence following an extended illness.  He was born on May 7, 1938, in Muncie the son of Louis Homer and Helen (Rogers) Privett.


Louis enlisted in the United States Navy where he honorably served for several years having served during the Korean War and later married his first wife, Phyllis Ann (Study) Privett and later Jennifer (Coker) both of whom have preceded him in death.  Besides having worked for the Navy as a career, he eventually became certified in air conditioning and refrigeration.  He had served the City of Muncie for several years doing maintenance in the Justice Center.  Louis was known to be a natural artist specializing in drawing and painting.   It was thought that his talents were very professional and could have even earned an income from his art projects.


Survivors include three sons, David Privett (JoAnne), Mashpee, MA, Greg Privett (Lynne) and Barry Privett, both of Muncie; two daughters, Jennifer Crane, Muncie and Leslie Bellevance, New Smyrna Beach, Florida; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one stepson, Chris Franklin (Sandy), Muncie; one brother, Gerald Privett (Phyllis), Greenfield, IN area; one sister, Judy Upchurch, Muncie; several nieces and nephews.


Besides his two wives, Phyllis and Jennifer, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, William “Bill” Upchurch.


Cremation has been chosen.   A memorial service is being held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the Living Water Church located at 700 N. Edgewood Dr. Muncie, IN 47303, at 11:00 A.M.  Parson Mortuary Cremation Center is entrusted with the cremation services.
