Lucille (Rhinehart) Purdum

Lucille (Rhinehart) Purdum passed away peacefully Saturday evening August 21, 2021 at Indiana University Ball Memorial Hospital. Born to William and Eunice Belle (Ice) Rhinehart on December 28,1927 Lucille lived all her life in Muncie. She graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1945. Lucille married Millard Purdum in 1953 celebrating 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2005. She had worked for Ball State Admissions office retiring in 1980 after 15 years of service. Lucille was a member of Shawnee Heights Baptist Church, their Friendship class and was a past Worthy Matron of Muncie Chapter #104 O.E.S..

Surviving Lucille are daughter, Betty J. Welch; granddaughter, Kelly Amonett, and 3 great-grandchildren in Tennessee; many nieces and nephews and her good friend Russell Merrell.

Her parents, William and Eunice; loving husband Millard; daughter Sharon Hoepner; five sisters, two brothers, and her first husband; step-daughter Sharon Sue Hurd preceded her in passing.

She would like to give a special thank you to Dr. S. Farmer and Staff for their great care and understanding shown to her.

Lucille’s decision was to hold no funeral or Eastern Star services. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
