Mark O. Mitchell, (aka the coke man) of Yorktown gained his angel's wings after a brief but courageous battle with cancer on Oct. 22, 2024. He was born on May 10, 1955, to Orla Mitchell and Virginia (Sheward) Gentry.
He graduated from Yorktown High School in 1973, where he excelled in sports. He then began his long and successful career in the food industry, holding a management position at Payless, Ludwip of Dunkirk, and Strong’s Market. He then worked for Nabisco before taking a position at Coca-Cola, where he worked until his retirement.
Mark is survived by his wife of 45 years Samara (Holland) Mitchell, his beloved daughter Megan (Jeremy) Greer, the light of his life – his granddaughters, and best-buddies Ashlynn Golliher and Brayley Greer, two sisters, Carolyn Speidel (Jerry), and Julie Gentry (Richard Bellaver), one brother, Kevin Mitchell, brother-in-law, Frank Pope, aunt Joann McShurley and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mark is preceded in death by his mom and dad Virginia and Dale Gentry, his father Orla Mitchell, sister Mary Pope, and grandparents, Russell and Mary Sheward.
Visitation will be held at Parson Mortuary on Monday Oct. 28, 2024, from 5-8pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at 11:00am with an hour visitation before. Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery.
