Marvin Sites Obituary

Marvin T. Sites

Marvin Sites, son of Leslie and Aubrey Sites, went to be with Jesus on July 27, 2022. Born January 11, 1928, he was a lifelong resident of Delaware County and a graduate of Harrison High School.

Marvin grew up on a farm with four beloved brothers: Leslie Junior, Derryll, Walter, and Bob. Together, they worked hard and played hard. After graduating from high school, he was hired by Maxon Corporation in Muncie where he enjoyed working for 44 years. In 1948, he married Barbara Joann Lee, and they shared 69 years of wonderful marriage before Joann passed away in 2018. It was a difficult good-bye.

Bethel Church was Marvin and Joann’s church home through all of their marriage. Marvin served for six decades on Bethel’s board and was a member of The Gideons International. He enjoyed bowling in the Maxon and Delaware Church Leagues, and he was a golf enthusiast, particularly during his retirement years. He loved to sing hymns, and he enjoyed watching sports, including IU basketball and Reds baseball. He was a good steward of all he had, from his home to his tools, and he was a big believer in doing your best work at all times. As a young man, he regularly took his family on camping trips, and he enjoyed some very special vacations during his retirement years, including a trip to Israel and a cruise in the northeast U.S. and Canada.

For Marvin, life was not complicated. Love God and your family. Support your church. Read your Bible. Work hard. Share with others. He did all of these things and humbly loved Jesus, faithfully loved his wife, and generously loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His legacy was a model of absolute faith, courage, and grace in the face of trials and adversity.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, his beautiful wife Joann, and his brothers. He is survived by his three children, Karen (husband Kevin), Randy (wife Cheri) and Terry (wife Dawn); ten grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was dearly loved by all his family, and he will be greatly missed.
