Mary Louise (Gregory) Dobbs Obituary

Mary Louise Dobbs passed away peacefully at her home on December 15, 2023, at the age of 96.  She was born in Rocky Branch, Kentucky, on May 25th, 1927 to her parents Jeff and Trudy (Bell) Gregory.  Louise married Stanley Dobbs on December 30, 1940, and they resided in Muncie, Indiana.  Two children were born to their union, David and Faye.

Louise worked for many years and retired from the Ball State Dining Service.  Her years at Ball State were filled with lifelong friends and many group trips which she enjoyed immensely.

Although her Christian life began in Kentucky, she became a member of the Memorial Baptist Church of Muncie in 1968 where she remained a member until her passing.  Louise was also a member of the Willing Workers Women’s Club of Memorial Baptist.

Louise was very talented in her cooking and sewing.  She had a strong will which carried her through many of life’s hardships she endured throughout the years.

Louise leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter, Faye Pennycuff (husband Roger), and four grandchildren; Jeff Wright (Wife Dorinda), Michael Pennycuff, David “Tony” Dobbs, and Daniel Dobbs (wife Kimberely).  Two brothers; Herbert Gregory of Monticello, KY, and Max Gregory (wife Debbie) of Helenas, OR.  One sister, Majorie Watson (husband Doug) of Monticello, KY.  Six great-grandchildren; John David, Kalee, Jeffrey, Isaiah, Savannah, and Brianna.  She also had five great-great-grandchildren; Blakely, Parker, Beckham, Quinton, and Lyla.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son David, four brothers; Winfred, Ralph, Bobby, and Paul Gregory, and three sisters; Oneida Smith, Irene Gregory, and Bulah Lloyd.  Also, one granddaughter, Kelly Dobbs, preceded her in death.

A special thank you to Cindy Carter for the excellent and loving healthcare she provided during her Aunt Louise’s final days.

Funeral services will be held at the Memorial Baptist Church 2911 Phillip St. Muncie, IN 47302 on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Chris Black officiating.  Burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie.
