Mary Lenora Duncan, 95, of Muncie, went home to be with the Lord on June 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born on December 28, 1930, in Winfield, TN to Dilbert and Ruby (Louden) Mayse.
Mary devoted her life to her family, who were the center of her world. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and growing family brought her immense joy and pride. Her grandchildren were truly her everything, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She retired after many years of dedicated work at New Venture Gear and Duffy Tool. Throughout her life, Mary was known for her strong work ethic and caring heart. She also worked as a cook and bartender at several local establishments, where she shared her gift of hospitality and her love of cooking with countless people.
Mary had a remarkable green thumb and could often be found tending her plants and gardens. She loved flowers, nature, and especially butterflies, which became one of her greatest passions. Family members often joked about her butterfly obsession. She had a special connection with animals and could even tame squirrels, earning her the affectionate nickname of a real-life Snow White.
Mary is survived by her brother, Albert Mayse and a large, loving family of more than 83 members, including her grandchildren: Christy Vaught (Zacc), Tarina Webb, Michelle Measel (Chris), Scott Ledbetter (Jennifer), Amanda Taylor, Hubert Duncan Jr. (Amber), Christopher Duncan (Amanda), Jason Duncan (Cathy), and Chester Duncan (Mindy); as well as her special sister-in-law Stella Mayse, best friends Carolyn Spedel and Irene Hill, her loving dog Ginger, numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and several more precious family members expected to join the family in the coming months.
She was preceded in death by her companion for 20 years Murkel Branham, her parents, Dilbert and Ruby Mayse; her siblings; her children, Patricia Taylor, Hubert Duncan Sr., and Angela Staver; and her grandchildren, Melinda Kidd (Dennis), Melanie Hill, Lynn Ledbetter, Sonya Fulton, Regina Beard (Brad), and Clint Inman Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Parson Mortuary. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the time of service at 12:00 p.m., with James McCowan officiating. Burial will follow at Tomlinson Cemetery.
Mary's legacy of love, hard work, kindness, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
