Mary Jane Monroe, 82, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on July 20, 2025.

Born November 26, 1942, to Samuel Morris and Mary Elizabeth Lykins.  She married the love of her life, James Monroe, on December 1, 1958.  They spent forty-five loving years together until his passing in 2004.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, crafting, and caring for her beloved dog, Precious.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, Carolyn, Beverly, and Christina, and her brother, Samuel.

She is survived by her children, James Monroe, Rick Monroe (Charlotte), Vicki Strahan (Paul), Teresa Strahan (Chris), and Eric Monroe (Amanda).  In addition to her children, she is survived by her sisters, Rozella, Patsy, and Velma. Mary was blessed with a large and loving family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren – too many to name, but each had a special place in her heart.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams Street, Muncie, Indiana.  Friends may call on the family from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery in Muncie.  Pastor Harold Stidham will officiate.
