Mary E. (Johns) Smith

Mary E. Smith, 82, passed away early Tuesday morning, June 22, 2021 following a brief illness.  She was born on October 29, 1938, in Muncie the daughter of, Arthur and Beatrice (Brown)Johns.

Mary graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1956 and later married Eugene D. Smith on June 12, 1981, in Muncie and he survives.   Mrs. Smith had worked for various places around the Muncie area after high school graduation and eventually worked as a machine operator at Corrugated Containers prior to their closing for approximately 14 years.  While there she was a member of the union, did cross stitch, was a former member of the First Brethren Church, and had even roller skated at Gibson Roller Rink and was even a competition skater back in the day.

Besides her husband of 40 years, Eugene (Gene), she is survived by five children, Teja L, Moore (Bryan), Muncie and Bob Wallace (Beth), Muncie and Jeff Wallace (Mary Kay), Selma, Debbie Christ, New Castle and Darrell Smith (Brenda), New Castle; twelve Grandchildren eight great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, son-in-law and first husband.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 25, 2021, 10:00 A.M. at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Rusty Clements officiating.  Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Thursday, June 24, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Friday, June 25,2021 from 9:00 A.M. until time of service.
