Melissa Johnson

Melissa Carolyn Johnson, 44, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Community North Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She had been struggling with a diabetic attack and passed away that morning.

Melissa was born in Muncie, Indiana on May 7. 1978 to Rhonda Johnson. She had been through a colorful career but ultimately did some form of healthcare for the better part of her life. 

Melissa wasn’t your average woman. She was what she described as tomboy-ish. However, she had all the love in the world to offer to friends and family, especially her two sons. Melissa was a cinephile and passed that down to her children. She loved to cook, travel, listen to music, have discussions about life, tell jokes, and so much more. 

Preceded by her mother: Rhonda Ellen Johnson (2022), Brother: Nicky J. Nance (1984), Grandmother: Carolyn Lee (Kimmel) Johnson (1995), Great Grandparents: LeRoy (1997) & Pauline (1993) Kimmel, Great Grandparents: Irvin E "Bob" (1975) & Sally Mae Johnson(2000), Step-Grandparents: Nick & Georgie Nance Sr., Infant Uncle: Tony Johnson (1969) & Infant Aunt Kimberly Skinner (1961), Cousin: Jeremy Myles Johnson (2015), and many other loved ones.

Surviving: Two sons Tanner Johnson and Caden Hunter, Grandfather John C. Johnson Sr, Aunt Sherri (Johnson) Ogle, Uncles Greg L. Johnson & Johnny C. Johnson Jr. (wife Tabby),  Step-father Nick R. Nance, Step-father Greg Hiday, and many cousins and many more loved ones. 

Calling hours and funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary from 11 AM to 2 PM for family and friends in Muncie on Friday, May 12th, 2023. Burial will follow the service at Neese Cemetery.
