Michael Shockley Obituary

Michael “Mike” Shockley, 62, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away on April 20, 2026, after a courageous battle with liver cancer. Throughout his illness, Mike remained a true fighter, facing every challenge with the legendary strength and grit that defined his life.

Born on September 17, 1963, Mike grew up attending Harrison School and Farmland Elementary before moving on to Wilson Middle School. He attended Morton Memorial High School, Muncie Southside, and Muncie Northside, where he was a dedicated athlete, competing in track, cross country, and wrestling. Showing his characteristic drive to move forward, he earned his G.E.D. and transitioned into the workforce.

Mike was a man who lived life on his own terms. As a local business owner and skilled painter, he left a lasting mark on the Muncie community through his trade. He took immense pride in his craftsmanship and was known for his straightforward nature and the value he placed on a hard day’s work.

Mike was truly the life of the party-a man who loved to joke, laugh, and ensure everyone around him was having a good time. He had a unique ability to keep things light with his sense of humor, yet he always knew exactly when it was time to be serious. He also found great joy in the excitement of participating in online auctions, where he loved the thrill of hunting for his next unique find.

Mike is now reunited with his parents, Jerry Shockley and Rosemary Sanders Shockley; his sister, Jerri Kay; and his brother, Charles “Chuck” Shockley.

He is survived by his children: Tony Shockley, Nate Shockley, Brandon Shockley, and Danielle McElrath (Will McElrath). He is also survived by several grandchildren; his stepchildren: Randy Burke, Shyla Burke-Vallad, and Aaron Burke (Amber Burke); his brothers, John Shockley and David Snider; and his sister, Kimberly Shockley Dodd.

Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary on Friday, May 1, 2026. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery.
