Michael Boyd Wood, aged 79, died 1 August 2024 after a short illness.  He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth (Fackelman); his sons Sam and Andrew and their spouses Laura Meyer and Bridgette (Shivley); and his four grandchildren: Wesley, Rosemary, Eleanor, and Samuel.

Michael was born in Houston, Texas to Presley and Wilda (Boyd) Wood.  His parents taught him to value service and education.  Michael enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1962, and he subsequently earned a PhD in Philosophy and a Master’s in Library Science.

Professionally, Michael devoted his life to higher education, serving in myriad library positions and culminating in a 20-year Deanship at Ball State University.  Personally, Michael was a devoted husband of 47 years and a loving father.  He was an excellent provider to his family and will be dearly missed.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St Mary Church on Tuesday 6 August at 1p.
