On February 9, 2026, Michelle Ranae (Proctor) Barkdull left this world at the age of 56 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital. Michelle was born on December 11, 1969, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Herbert Lee Proctor and Lois (Philpott) Vanover.
Following high school, Michelle went to work for Village Pantries and managed them for over twenty-five years. She was a hard worker who took care of not only her own children, but also others who were in need. She was a generous person who would give the shirt off her back, even if it meant she would have to do without.
Michelle had a passion for animals, especially her dog Zeus, but she loved all kinds of animals. She was described as an “animal advocate.” She also loved cooking, music, flowers, plants, and was a Bingo fanatic!
Michelle’s biggest love was the love for her family. When the kids were younger, she loved to travel with them; she favored national parks and zoos. It was said that she probably visited over fifty zoos with her daughter. That love for family extended to her grandchildren as well. Family was life to Michelle, and she worked hard to provide for them.
She is survived by her children, Sidney Everette (Dennis), Terry Mieth (Marquitta), and Tiffany Mieth Crowell (Demiti), grandchildren, Cameron, Bryleigh, Cayson, Maliah, Mariah, Ayden, Jackson, and Kalel. In addition, she leaves behind her mother, Lois Vanover, sisters, Nanette Luckhart and Tonya Proctor, as well as her brother, Darrell Young.
She was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Lee Proctor, and a brother, Randall Proctor.
Per the wishes of the family, Michelle will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
