Mildred Eugene Gregory, 100, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, at Brickyard Healthcare in Muncie. She was born on January 2, 1925, in Monticello, Kentucky, to Obie and Mary Jane (Gregory) Dobbs.
A remarkable woman of determination and creativity, Mildred was the embodiment of the "do-it-yourself" spirit. A seamstress at Collegian Shops, she also altered clothing for Mrs. Ball and made countless outfits for her children. Largely self-taught, Mildred was incredibly knowledgeable, resourceful, and full of life. She loved writing poems and was passionate about recycling long before it was fashionable. If she set her mind to something, she made it happen. Deeply family-oriented and always on the go, Mildred was a true go-getter and a beloved matriarch.
She is survived by her daughter Janice Jane Fierce (Lionel); her grandchildren Bill Trussel (Angie) and Ann Kleeman (Scott); and her great-granddaughter, Chloe Trussel.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 57 years, Arthur Gregory, and her daughter, Judy Gregory.
Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., with Andrew Phipps officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
