Nina Mae (Grimm) Longfellow

Our loving mother, Nina Mae (Grimm) Longfellow, went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of August 8, 2023.  She passed at Willowbend Living Center after a long illness.

Nina was born on September 27, 1937, and married Carlos “Pat” Longfellow on June 28, 1957.  She was a lifelong resident of Muncie, Indiana.

She attended the Salvation Army and was part of their Women’s Club while raising her family.  Nina liked attending Home League, and the Salvation Army Women’s Ministries.

Nina bowled in many local bowling leagues and liked spending time with her family at the bowling alley.  Sunday dinner was always on the table and her home was always open to family, especially her grandchildren. She loved playing Yahtzee, Aggravation, and a variety of card games.  Nina loved her Juicy Fruit gum but if you asked for a piece, she would only give you half a stick.

Nina was the daughter of William and Ethel (Stafford) Grimm and sister to Bobby, Jack, John, Doris, and Joyce Mae.  She was predeceased by her husband, Pat Longfellow, sons John (Lisa Winchester) and Bobby, grandson Erik, and son-in-law Michael Thompson.  She is survived by daughters Laura Vandevender and Tena Thompson (Michael), son Carl (Barbara Parks), 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter and daughter-in-law Lisa (John).

Services will be Tuesday, August 15 at Parsons Mortuary at 10 a.m.  Friends may call on the family from 9:00 AM until the time of the service.  Interment will be at Beech Grove Cemetery next to her husband Pat following the service.
