Noel Sparks, 100, of Muncie, passed away at Bethel Pointe on Monday, November 4, 2024. He was born March 2, 1924, in Elliott County, Kentucky to Lonnie and Wyona (Lewis) Sparks.
On May 17, 1943, he married Edna Lee Willoughby, his wife of over 55 years who passed away on August 31, 1998. On July 13, 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 216th General Hospital Unit in England, France, and Germany, during WWII. After that he moved to Albany, Indiana, where he worked for McCormick Bros. Manufacturing, until they closed in 1975. He moved on to work for Feany Manufacturing where he retired in 1986. After his wife passed, he began driving and delivering cars for Porter Garrett to have something to do.
On September 17, 1999, he married Lorene (Williams) Jetmore, who passed away on August 2, 2007. On March 1, 2008, he married Rachel (Walters) Loughmiller who passed away September 24, 2023. Noel loved his family and enjoyed playing cards, and gardening. He could make anything grow. He also loved Christmas and setting up his treasured Christmas decorations in the yard. He was a man of faith, he attended church at Jackson Park Baptist Church, Glad Tidings Church, as well as West Side Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son Ray Sparks (Christine), Sun City Florida, his daughter Nola Sargent (Bob) Albany Indiana, sister-in-law Brenda Sparks Morehead Kentucky, grandchildren, Dan Sparks (Amanda), Muncie, Indiana Heather Rodocker (Andrew) Indianapolis Indiana, Beth Smith, Muncie Indiana, Mike Sargent, Teresa Sargent, Albany, Indiana, Mike (Jennifer), Albany, Indiana, Julie Smith, Amanda Smith, Brad (Robin) Smith, Albany, Indiana, Cindy (John) Davis, Eaton, Indiana great-grandchildren Callen Sparks, Ada and Tilly Rodocker, Casey Nichols, Evan Bullard, great-great-granddaughter Emory Clark, 3 step-children Mary Rose (Bob), Pat McAllister (Rissa), and Mike McAllister (Michele), several step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friends Ivan and Rebecca Case.
In addition to his parents and wives, he is preceded in death by a stepdaughter Shirley Smith, grandson Joseph Sparks, great-grandson Erik Sparks, and great-great-grandson Jensen Maritime Ehmer, 3 brothers Buel Sparks, Frank Sparks, and James Sparks. 5 sisters Monnie Castle, Beatrice Easton, Dixie Burch, Dorothy Bradley, and Janice Sparks.
Family wants to extend a special thank you to Paradigm Hospice and Bethel Pointe for taking care of Noel the last few years.
Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary on Thursday, November 14, 2024. visitation will begin at 10:00am until service time at 12:00pm. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Jeff officiating.
