Pamela I. Young Obituary
Pamela Irene Young, 73, completed her journey on March 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 28, 1952, in Tacoma, Washington, to Anthony Valdez and Melva (Chataginer) Redd.
Pamela dedicated over 40 years of her life to nursing, a profession that perfectly reflected her deep love for people and her caring spirit. She had a gift for making others feel seen, welcomed, and celebrated. She truly never knew a stranger.
Pamela found joy in life’s simple and grand moments alike. She loved traveling, reading mystery and crime thrillers, shopping, watching true crime television, having a cup of coffee in one hand and a fistful of M&Ms in the other, and cheering on her beloved Colts. Holidays were especially meaningful to her: she delighted in decorating, giving gifts, and celebrating what she often called “happy everything,” making every occasion, big or small, feel special.
One of Pamela's most cherished memories was a spontaneous trip to New York City in November 2011 with her son Chris. While trying to navigate the crowds at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a kind police officer noticed Pamela in the crowd, and arranged for her and Chris to sit in a special viewing area at the front. It was a perfect example of how Pamela’s warmth and vibrant personality brought out the best in others and created unforgettable moments.
Pamela also had a playful, mischievous side. As a teenager in Florida, she and a friend got bored one day and decided to steal mail around the neighborhood, a secret she managed to keep for many years, adding to the many stories that made her life so colorful.
Pamela is survived by her son, Christopher Young (Huadi Zhang); her beloved grandchildren, Kailan and Reya; her siblings, Sandra Brumback (Michael), Tony Valdez, and Danny Redd; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Rick Valdez; her nephew, Nicholas Rowland; and her favorite dog, Blackie.
Pamela will be remembered for her bright spirit, her generosity, and her remarkable ability to turn everyday moments into celebrations. Her love, laughter, and light will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Memorial services will be held at Parson Mortuary on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. and continue until 4:00 p.m.
