February 20, 1936 ~ October 5, 2021 (age 85)

Obituary

Patricia VanNatter of Muncie, IN passed away surrounded by family on October 5th, 2021.  Patricia was born February 20, 1936 to John and Della Skinner (deceased) in Muncie, IN.

Patricia was married to James VanNatter May 19, 1953, they were married for 68 very loving and adventurous years.  She actively attended Harrison Township School.  She worked 40 years as Secretary to the Plant Manager at Delco Remy of Anderson, IN.  Retired from General Motors after 45 years.

She was a past member of the ABWA and the Muncie Moose.  She was a 50 years member of the Eastern Star of Upland and she attended Mount Olive (Methodist) Community Church for 65 years.

If you were lucky enough to know Patricia VanNatter you knew how special she was to her family, community and friends.  She opened her home to everyone she met; through loved monthly family celebrations/ holidays to hosting church picnics at her house for nearly two decades.  Many friends, neighbors and family alike caught a fish or swam for the first time in the pond.  Not to mention the many baptisms that took place during church picnics.

Patricia always lived life to the fullest through her travels around the world, watching her beloved horses race or running her elephant ear stand (Hoosier Grandma) at local festivals (as her husband gave her a mileage limit of how far she could go).  She encouraged others to live life and work for what you wanted.  She loved many and lived with a grace many of us strive to achieve.

She was a giving person; with her love, time and prayers.  She held many leadership positions in Eastern Star (Worthy Matron and Star Points) and her church.  Patricia was always one to write a thank you, birthday or get-well card.  Patricia was known for her chicken noodles that was requested for every church, family or fundraiser dinner.

Patricia was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Skinner and Dale Skinner, a sister Crystal Jackson (husband Cliff) and a Grandson Steve Brasher Jr.

Patricia is survived by James VanNatter (husband) of Muncie, IN.  Two children; a son Bob VanNatter (wife Gretchen) of Laughlin, NV and a devoted daughter Gayla Brasher of Muncie, IN.  Also, a loving sister Sandra (husband Darrell) Brizendine of Alexandria, IN.

Five surviving Grandchildren; Wendy Knotts (husband Andy) of Muncie, Nicole Schreiner (husband Bob) of Colorado Springs, CO, Tricia Bender (husband Jeremy) of Franklin, IN, Tonya Brasher of Anderson, IN, and Jason VanNatter (wife Jennifer) of Gwinn, MI.

Eight Great Grandchildren, Many nieces and nephews.  Plus, a very Special Nephew Shane Skinner (wife Kelley) and children Nathan (deceased), Morgan and Mason of Muncie, IN.

Special thanks to the many loving and compassionate friends that showed support and kindness, especially these last few years.  Dr. Adesola Awomolo and her team of staff and volunteers at Muncie IU Health Ball Memorial Cancer Center of Muncie, IN.  As well as Kenny and the Hospice Team (AseraCare).  The care and love that was shown during Patricia’s battle with cancer was seen and very appreciated by Patricia and her family.
