Paul V. Hurt

Paul V. Hurt, 86, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening, July 20, 2021 at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.  He was born on July 31, 1934 in Monticello, Kentucky the son of Matthew and Lona (Dobbs) Hurt.

Paul attended Monticello schools and later married the love of his life, Ina (Simpson) Hurt on April 8, 1954 in Muncie and she survives.  Mr. Hurt had worked for New Venture Gear as a machine operator and in the Forge Shop for 30 years prior to his retirement in 1992.  He was a member of the Bethel United Baptist Church and a member of the United Auto Workers Union.  He enjoyed fishing.

Besides his wife of 66 years, Ina, he is survived by one son,  Scott Hurt, Muncie; two grandchildren, Angela Mader (Craig) , Albany and Chris Hurt, Oklahoma; two step grandchildren, Sean Swank (Sheila),  and Brandy Swank, both of Oklahoma; five great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Gayla Hurt, Tulsa, Oklahoma; two brothers, Oedwie Hurt (Mary),Muncie and Larry Hurt (Connie), Somerset, Kentucky; two sisters, Jewell Brown (Sherman), Muncie and Phyllis Bertram (Wallace) , Monticello, Kentucky; several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey K. Hurt; his parents and one brother, Kenneth Hurt and one sister, Lois Burnett.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, 1:00 P.M.  at the Parson Mortuary with Pastor Larry Waters officiating.  Burial will follow at the Tomlinson Cemetery. 

Friends may call at the Parson Mortuary on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of service.
