Phillip Ray Welsh, 79, passed away at IU Ball Memorial Hospital, on March 13, 2024, surrounded by his family.  Phillip was born on January 6, 1945, in Muncie, Indiana, the son of Charles and Lilly (Justice) Welsh. 

Phillip graduated from the Indianapolis School for the Deaf in 1963 and later worked for General Motors, retiring in 2004.  He loved to watch old Western movies, with John Wayne being his absolute favorite.  Phillip enjoyed sports including NASCAR and was a die-hard fan of Purdue, taking after his father.  He also enjoyed camping and fishing and adored and loved his daughters and grandchildren.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Jayne Welsh,  two daughters, Kimberly McCracken (Robert) and Tracy Welsh (Ron Morton), siblings Sandy Bell and Rex Walsh, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, as well as seven nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Donnie Welsh and Maxine Welsh.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Parson Mortuary, at 12:00 noon.  Friends may call from 1030 AM until 12:00.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie.
