Phyllis Ann Rutherford, 84, passed away at Envive Healthcare in Hartford City on December 11, 2024. She was born in Jellico, Tennessee, on September 8, 1940, the daughter of Hugh and Amy (Evans) Rutherford.
Phyllis was employed at several locations including Bartlett Automotive, 3M, and was a tutor. She had a talent for needle crafting and made quilts, crotched, and upholstery. She loved her family and was the caretaker of all. She was a strong, independent, caring woman, who would give you the shirt off her back. She was a true southerner, specializing in biscuits and gravy, and banana cake. Phyllis attended Northside Assembly of God as well as Destiny Christian Church, both of Muncie. She was a friend to all and was there for her friends and neighbors. Perhaps the only thing that rivaled her love of her family, was her love of the State of Tennessee, the Volunteers and Rocky Top!
Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Jacinda Conway, and Amy Boughman, one son, Dean Conway, grandchildren, Donald, Amy, Kyrhann, Zachary, and Regan, as well as three great grandchildren. Also surviving are nephews Eric Rutherford, and Robert “Bobby” Clark.
She was preceded in death her parents, two sons, Sean and Gregory Conway, one grandson, Brandis Conway, siblings Bill Rutherford and Mary Teal, her former husband, John “Jack” Conway and two nephews.
Services will be on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Parson Mortuary, at 7:00 PM. Friends may call on the family from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Burial will take place at a later date at Union Cemetery in Eaton, Indiana.
