R. Craig Johnson

R. Craig Johnson passed away peacefully and entered Heaven with his family by his side on June 1, 2026.

Craig proudly served in the National Guard from 1964 to 1970 as a bandsman. After dating for only two months, he married the love of his life, Diana, and they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage.

Craig and Diana made their home in Muncie, Indiana, and also enjoyed time in Bradenton, Florida. He worked at BorgWarner for 45 years and owned Eagle Corporation Custom Home Design from 1962 to 2022. Through his talent and dedication, Craig designed more homes in Muncie than anyone else, leaving a lasting legacy in the community. He was also a faithful member of Union Chapel Church.

Craig loved automobiles and enjoyed attending car shows with his son and grandsons, creating cherished memories together. He also valued lifelong friendships and regularly met for lunch with friends he had known since Emerson Elementary School in 1956.

Craig is survived by his beloved wife, Diana; son, Scott (Karen); daughter, Deanie (Paul); grandchildren, Bradley (Heather), Brian (Shawna), and Samantha (Jason); great-grandchildren, Malachi and Nathan; one great-grandchild expected in December; bonus son, John Nieman; bonus daughters, Chris Holdren (Al) and Kim Kirts; sisters-in-laws, Becky Johnson and Carol Rench; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Margarette Johnson; brother, John Johnson; and brother-in-law, Bobby Rench.

Craig and Diana were blessed with many dear friends from their church and neighborhood, and the family deeply appreciates their love, support, and friendship.

The family also extends heartfelt gratitude to Heart to Heart Hospice and Morrison Woods Nursing Home for their compassionate care and support.

Visitation for Craig will be held at Union Chapel Church, 4622 N. Broadway Avenue, Muncie, Indiana, on Saturday, June 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m.
