Richard Leroy Wolfe Obituary

Richard Leroy Wolfe (Animal), 71, passed away in Muncie, Indiana, at IU Ball Memorial Hospital on Monday, March 2, 2026, following a lengthy illness. Richard was born on September 7, 1954, to William and Carol (Harnish) Wolfe of Muncie.

Following graduation from Southside High School, Richard pursued his lifelong love of working on cars and trucks. He was an exceptional autobody man who could fix anything that was damaged. He worked for twenty-plus years for Townsend Tree Services, keeping their fleet looking good. He also had a passion for motorcycles, old cars, and NASCAR & WWE. He was known to take groups of people to races, hog roasts, and to the James Dean Festival.

Perhaps his greatest calling was that of a kind-hearted man who would give you the shirt off his back if you were in need. He was known to help people and children in need, and was seen as the father and grandfather of the neighborhood.

Richard’s greatest joy came from his family, especially his twenty-three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  He would often be found with one or more of the grandkids tagging along, spending time with their grandpa, and loving every minute of it.

Richard leaves behind his children, Matthew Wolfe (Mackenzie), David Wolfe (Jama), William Wolfe, Elisha Wolfe (Lamotta Roundtree),& Jessica Wolfe, his special grandson Hunter Wolfe, and his loyal dog, Echo. He also leaves behind his grandson, Lupin, and his granddaughter Carlene, who were part of taking care of him in his last days.

He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Kathy Wolfe; his parents, a brother, Robert Brown, and a sister, Carlene Wolfe; and his best friend of over forty years, Garry Lawson.

Richard will be cremated with no formal services at this time.
