Rita Louise Denney, 74, passed away just shy of her 75th birthday on January 24, 2024, at the Morrison Woods Health Care Center following complications associated with Lewy body dementia.

     Rita was born on January 26, 1949, to Charles F. and Margaret V. (Rolf) Price.  Rita was a graduate of Burris High School and a lifelong resident of Muncie.  She married the love of her life, Louis Denney, on August 5, 1972.  Rita worked for her father at Knapp Supply Company after high school and briefly as an activity coordinator at various nursing homes, but most of her life was spent as a loving mother and homemaker.  Rita was a member of St. Mary Church.  She loved to travel, spend time in nature, watch movies, and enjoy crocheting and reading.  She was an avid animal lover and left behind two dogs.

     Aside from her husband of 51 years, Louis, Rita is survived by her two children, Joseph Denney and Katherine Denney, Muncie; one sister Cheryl Ruth, North Carolina; a niece and several nephews.

     She was preceded in death by her oldest son, William W. Denney in 2002; her parents; and two brothers, William and Charles Price.

     A Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 1 pm with Father Andrew Thornton officiating.  Burial will follow at Beech Grove Cemetery.  Parson Mortuary is entrusted with these arrangements.

     Friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church on Thursday, February 1, 2024, from noon until the time of Mass.

     Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
