Robert Douglas "Doug" Barnes

Robert Douglas "Doug" Barnes, 79, of Muncie, Indiana, passed away on September 14, 2023. Born on April 25, 1944, in Muncie, he was the beloved husband of Diana L. Parks Barnes for 52 years.

Doug was a kind, generous, and friendly individual who had a knack for making friends wherever he went. He had a wonderful sense of humor and brought joy to those around him.

In addition to his wife, Doug is survived by his son, Eric D. Barnes, and daughter-in-law, Diana M. Barnes; his son, Ryan A. Barnes, and daughter-in-law, Beth Barnes; his brother, Roy Barnes, and sister-in-law, Nicki Barnes; and his sister, Rachel Paulette Guttierez, and brother-in-law, Salomon Guttierez. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Zach Barnes, Morgan Barnes, Evelyn Barnes, Owen Barnes, and several foster grandchildren.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, Frank James Barnes; his mother, Alpha Jane Stephens Barnes; his sister, Patty Barnes Morton; and his brother, Ron Barnes.

For 28 years, Doug dedicated his career to Brodericks, where he made a lasting impact. In his free time, he enjoyed watching Reds baseball, fishing,  spending time with his family, and simply sitting on the porch, appreciating life's simple pleasures.

The cremation is being handled by Parson's Mortuary Home in Muncie, Indiana. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or Muncie Animal Care and Services in Doug's honor.

Doug Barnes will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May his memory live on in our hearts forever.
