Robert L. Barnet Jr.

Honorable Robert L. Barnet Jr. retired Judge of Delaware County Circuit Court 3, passed away Wednesday August 25, 2021 at his residence in Wolcottville, Indiana. Robert was born to Sherles (Slane) and Robert Barnet Sr. in Muncie Indiana on Wednesday April 24, 1946. He married Linda Angrick on March 12, 1971 and she survives. Robert and Linda celebrated 50 years of marriage this past March surrounded by their loving family.

Robert was a 1964 graduate of Muncie Central High School. He went on to earn his undergraduate degree at Ball State University followed by his Juris Doctorate at Indiana University School of Law Indianapolis, graduating Cum-Laude.

He spent 30 years presiding on the bench as Circuit Court Judge in Delaware County where he earned the nickname “Maximum Bob”. He tried several high-profile cases over the years and upon his retirement he was awarded the prestigious Sagamore of the Wabash, the highest honor bestowed by the Governor.

Robert loved spending time with his family home on the lake. He enjoyed fishing with his grandsons during “Camp Barnet”, cheering on the Yankees and IU basketball, hunting, and playing golf. He lived his life to the fullest each and every day.

Surviving Robert are daughter Emily (Jason) Logan, son Dan Barnet, daughter Katherine Studebaker; grandchildren Jacob Logan, Noah Barnet, Nolan Barnet; sister Nancy (Allen) White; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews with many extended family members that will miss him.

His parents preceded him in passing.

Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary and Cremation Center on Thursday September 2, 2021 at 1:00pm with Reverend Danny Mackey officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory North of Muncie. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service
