Ronald Eugene Hughes Sr.

Ronald Eugene Hughes Sr., 87, passed away on January 5, 2025, at IU Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.  He was born on December 16, 1937, the son of William Perry and Etta Mae (Richey) Hughes, in Muncie, Indiana.

Following graduation from Muncie Central, Ronald worked for Marsh Supermarkets for forty-two years and was the Zone Manager overseeing all of the Village Pantry stores.  Ronald loved bowling and was a past president of the Muncie Bowlers Association, as well as an inductee into their Hall of Fame.  Later in life Ronald took up the sport of golf and enjoyed it as well.  He was also a member and past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Lodge 231.

He is survived by his three sons, Ronald Hughes Jr. (Trysh), Kenny Hughes (Carla), and Michael Hughes (Shell), a sister, Sherry Russell (Wesley), and five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Ronald was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Wilma Fay (Phipps) Hughes, and siblings, Bill Hughes, Marie Clark, and Charline Gollifer.

Funeral services will be held at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams Street, Muncie, on Friday, January 10th, at 1:00 PM.  Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 PM.  Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park, Muncie.
