Ruby Phipps, 91, went to her heavenly home Sunday morning, June 9, 2024, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born in Whitley City, Kentucky on August 23, 1932, the daughter of William L. and Ada (Koger) Gregory.
Ruby attended Co-op Schools near Stearns, Kentucky, and later married Milton C. Phipps, on November 15, 1947, and he preceded her in death on May 25, 1994. Mrs. Phipps was a homemaker and member of the Westside Baptist Church, a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and enjoyed fashion and design, watching Television Ministry programming, and reading her bible. Mostly, Ruby longed to be in church and the presence of God and treasured the times she could spend with her family as well.
Survivors include one son Richard D. Phipps (Joann), both of Muncie; one daughter, Virginia York (Jerry), Muncie; seven grandchildren, Christie Ellis, Toby Phipps, Ryan Phipps (girlfriend-Lindsay Dawn), Amy York, John Phipps (Shelby), Alex Phipps and Cody Phipps; one great-granddaughter, Lorraine Phipps; several nieces and nephews; two former daughter’s-in-law, Carla and Becky Phipps.
Besides her husband, Milton, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Clara Phipps-Limer, one son, George Phipps, and her parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024, at Parson Mortuary at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Andrew Phipps Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.
Friends may call Parson Mortuary on Monday, June 17, 2024, from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
