Sandra S. (Atkins) Tarpley, 74, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 27, 2021 at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born in Muncie the daughter of Coy and Elsie (Monroe) Atkins on February 7, 1947.
Sandra graduated from Southside High School in 1965. She loved music from an early age and sang in in a variety of school and church choirs. During her career, she held roles with Westinghouse and Indiana Bell. She took pride in her professional accomplishments, but her most cherished role was that of Mother to her two children.
Sandra was an avid learner who was active in genealogy research and enjoyed spending time at museums, concerts, historical sites, and community events. She loved to travel, especially if the destination included a beach. Above all, she appreciated time spent with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Tami Tarpley, Noblesville; her son, Michael Tarpley (fiancé-Meghan Anderson), Muncie; two granddaughters, Haylie Lance, Daleville and Taylor Owens, Gas City; three great grandchildren; Braxton, Avery, and Greyson Michael; two sisters-in-law, Heidi Atkins, Muncie and Janet Veal, Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Donald Atkins and Gary Atkins
Private family graveside service will be held at Tomlinson Cemetery.
