Our beloved, Sarah Elizabeth May, 76, passed on Thursday 5-22-25 at home with her loving family. Sarah was the devoted wife of 60 years to her husband Larry May and proud Mother to her children, daughter Tonya May (Shannie) and son Anthony May (Jen).
Her love and devotion to her family was immeasurable and her kind and nurturing spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Sarah was an accomplished artist and crafter, with her beautiful creations selling as far as the U.K. She was an amazing momma to many fur babies and cherished them all. Her wit and humor were unmatched, and her radiant smile and laughter could lift up even the most troubled spirit. She was a gifted soul who always opened her heart and home to anyone, human or animal, that needed love, kindness and acceptance.
Sarah was preceded in death by her Mother Esther Spurgeon (Pierson), Father Walter Spurgeon, Sister Sally Ann Spurgeon, Sister Melissa Leehan and special sister-in-law Ruth Jackson.
In addition to her beloved husband and children, Sarah is survived by her loving sister and best friend Anne Williams (John); loving sister Judy Gambrel (Jack); grandchildren Jordan (Ashley); Caylie; Kaden; Hannah; and Maygen; two great grandchildren Shay and Danny; nephew Tom Jackson; brother-in-law Mark May (Debbie); Niece Crisanne Nolley (Gambrel), nephews John and Jim Gambrel; and nephew Mario Costello (Kitty).
At her request, she did not want any services. We will have a Celebration of Life at a later, undetermined date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation) at 1209 W. Riggin Rd., Muncie, In. 47304 in her honor.
While our loss of Sarah is inconsolable, we also find a great joy and peace in knowing that she is now thriving, safe in the love and arms of our Lord, forever.
