Scott Alan McConnaughey, 63, left this life late Saturday evening, June 29, 2024, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.  He was born on December 29, 1960, in Muncie the son of Leo and Bessie (Lowe) McConnaughey.       

Scott attended Muncie Community Schools and later married the love of his life Tammy (Landreth) McConnaughey on March 11, 2000 in Muncie and she survives.   Mr. McConnaughey worked for several places throughout the Muncie area.  He could be seen in factories, also doing carpentry, most recently, he had been a Custodian for the Muncie Community Schools.   He enjoyed history of all kinds especially about Muncie.  Mr. McConnaughey would watch documentaries on the history channel and loved spending time with his pets.  Family times including kayaking, camping and going to concerts were very precious to him.  Scott loved making memories!

Besides his wife of 24 years, Tammy, he is also survived by two daughters, Amanda Rogers (Aaron), Laken McConnaughey, both of Muncie; one son, Matthew Moore (Amber), Indianapolis; one grandson, Jesse Smith, Muncie; one sister, Sandy Hammond (Calvin Sutliff), Muncie,; one Nephew, Jason Hammond, Muncie; several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Mike McConnaughey; one nephew, Shane Carroll; several aunts and uncles.

 A gathering of friends and family will take place on Monday, July 8, 2024, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M.  Cremation will follow at a later date.
